Tim David Skips BBL to Prepare for T20 World Cup

Australian cricketer Tim David has been ruled out of the remainder of the Big Bash League (BBL) season after scans revealed a Grade 2 strain in his right hamstring.

The injury was sustained while David was running between the wickets during Hobart Hurricanes’ four-wicket win over the Perth Scorchers on December 26. Following the match, the Hurricanes confirmed that he would undergo scans to determine the severity of the injury.

Despite this setback, the franchise has given fans some positive news. According to the Hobart Hurricanes, David is “tracking to be available” for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which is set to begin on February 7.

The team emphasized that his rehabilitation is progressing well, and they remain hopeful about his participation in the global tournament.

This is not the first time David has struggled with a hamstring injury. Earlier in 2025, he suffered a similar injury while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League (IPL), forcing him to miss the final matches, including the title-winning game against Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad.

David’s absence from the BBL will be felt, but fans can look forward to seeing him back in action for Australia at the T20 World Cup. His focus now remains on full recovery and performing at his best on the international stage.
