South Africa Women Win ODI Series vs Pakistan

South Africa women’s national cricket team sealed an impressive ODI series victory over Pakistan women’s national cricket team with a thrilling 16-run win in the second ICC Women’s Championship match in Centurion.

The result handed the Proteas Women an unassailable 2-0 lead with one game remaining.

The standout performer was all-rounder Annerie Dercksen, who delivered one of the finest performances of her ODI career.

Dercksen smashed a commanding 90 off 68 balls, striking six fours and four sixes, before returning with the ball to claim 3/59 and derail Pakistan’s chase, a momentum that was clearly reflected in the live score as South Africa maintained control throughout the contest.

After being asked to bat, South Africa posted a formidable 361/8 in 50 overs, their second-highest ODI total.

Tazmin Brits contributed a fluent 77 off 62 balls, while Suné Luus added a composed 57, helping the hosts dominate the middle overs. Late acceleration from Chloé Tryon (37) and Nadine de Klerk (49) ensured a daunting target for the visitors.

In response, Pakistan showed remarkable fight. Sadaf Shamas (61) and Ayesha Zafar (75) steadied the innings with a crucial 97-run partnership after early setbacks. Captain Fatima Sana injected late momentum with a quick-fire 52, keeping hopes alive deep into the chase.

However, disciplined spells from Nondumiso Shangase (2/30), Nonkululeko Mlaba (2/68), and Nadine de Klerk (2/66) maintained scoreboard pressure. Dercksen’s crucial breakthroughs in the power play and middle overs proved decisive as Pakistan were bowled out for 345 in 49.5 overs.

The victory highlights South Africa’s growing dominance in the ICC Women’s Championship cycle, combining batting depth with a versatile bowling attack. Dercksen’s all-round display underlines her emergence as a key figure in the Proteas setup, reinforcing the team’s balance ahead of upcoming international assignments.

With momentum firmly on their side, the Proteas Women will look to complete a clean sweep in the final ODI and continue strengthening their standing in the championship table.
