Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women scripted a memorable triumph by defeating Delhi Capitals Women by six wickets in the Women’s Premier League 2026 final at the BCA Stadium, Vadodara.
In a match packed with records and high-quality batting, RCB pulled off the highest successful run chase ever seen in a WPL final to claim their second league title.
Delhi Capitals were put into bat after RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana won the toss. DC started confidently on a flat surface and never allowed the momentum to slip.
Jemimah Rodrigues played a composed yet impactful knock, scoring 57 runs from 37 deliveries.
She was well supported by Laura Wolvaardt, who provided early acceleration with a brisk 44, while Lizelle Lee added stability with a handy contribution in the middle overs. DC finished strongly at 203 for 4, setting a daunting target that looked challenging even by WPL standards.
RCB’s bowling attack struggled to apply consistent pressure, with runs flowing freely across the ground. Although wickets were picked up at intervals, DC ensured the scoreboard kept ticking, creating pressure on the chasing side.
The chase began with an early setback as Grace Harris departed cheaply, but that moment only set the stage for an extraordinary partnership.
Captain Smriti Mandhana took complete control of the innings, displaying calm leadership and fearless strokeplay. She paced the chase perfectly, finding boundaries whenever required and keeping the asking rate within reach.
At the other end, Georgia Voll played a mature and crucial innings. She complemented Mandhana brilliantly, rotating strike and punishing loose balls.
Together, they added a massive 165 runs for the second wicket, the highest partnership ever recorded in a WPL final. Their stand not only neutralized the target’s pressure but also decisively shifted the match in RCB’s favor.
Delhi Capitals tried multiple bowling options, but breakthroughs were hard to come by.
Chinelle Henry emerged as the most effective bowler, picking up two wickets, while Minnu Mani showed good control in her limited spell. Despite Mandhana’s dismissal in the final phase, RCB remained composed.
Radha Yadav finished the match in style, staying unbeaten as RCB reached 204 for 4 with two balls to spare.
The victory was historic in more ways than one, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru became the first franchise to win both men’s and women’s league titles, marking a landmark achievement in franchise cricket.
