He described the league as an emerging investment hub and suggested that its expansion reflects a strong belief in Pakistan cricket’s future. The PCB has already approved its audited 2024–25 financial statements, reinforcing stability in the field.
A major milestone in PSL’s evolution is its expansion from six to eight teams. New franchises from Sialkot and Hyderabad attracted record bids, underlining increasing commercial interest. This growth phase signals the league’s ambition to compete at a higher global level.
However, the IPL vs PSL comparison also exposes a significant gap. The IPL, launched in 2008, remains the dominant force in franchise cricket with massive global reach, multi-city hosting, and packed stadiums.
