A high-scoring thriller in IPL 2026 saw Sunrisers Hyderabad pull off a stunning chase against Rajasthan Royals, but it was young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi who grabbed all the attention with a breathtaking century that left even Pat Cummins in awe.
The 15-year-old prodigy smashed a sensational 103 off just 37 balls, lighting up the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
His explosive knock, featuring 5 fours and 12 sixes, powered Rajasthan Royals to a massive total of 228/6. Sooryavanshi’s fearless approach was evident from the start, as he took on some of the best bowlers in the league with remarkable ease.
He even made an immediate impact against SRH skipper Pat Cummins, launching the very first ball he faced from the Australian pacer for a six. In just four deliveries against Cummins, the youngster scored eight runs, showcasing his aggressive intent.
Despite Sooryavanshi’s heroics, Sunrisers Hyderabad successfully chased down the target with five wickets in hand and nine balls to spare. Half-centuries from Ishan Kishan (74 off 31) and Abhishek Sharma (57 off 29) anchored the chase and ensured a comfortable victory.
However, the biggest talking point remained Sooryavanshi’s incredible innings. His century came off just 36 balls, making it one of the fastest in IPL history and further solidifying his status as one of the brightest young talents in the tournament.
Speaking after the match, Cummins couldn’t hide his admiration for the teenager. He described Sooryavanshi as his “new favourite player,” praising his power-hitting ability and fearless mindset.
“You’ve got to be right on the money as a bowler, otherwise it’s going a long way,” Cummins said, highlighting the challenge of bowling to the young star.
