Bengal Captain Abhimanyu Easwaran Added to Auction List

Bengal captain Abhimanyu Easwaran has been added to the list of registered players for the IPL 2026 mini-auction, scheduled in Abu Dhabi on December 16.

His inclusion comes after a revised player list was shared with franchises by the BCCI, following a few late updates to the original roster of 350 shortlisted players.

Easwaran’s name was initially recommended by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) with a base price of ₹30 lakh, but it was missing from the first auction release.

A subsequent recommendation from an unnamed IPL franchise led to his late re-entry, making him one of the last additions to the auction pool.

Strong Domestic Form Boosts T20 Prospects

Abhimanyu Easwaran is mainly known for his red-ball (long-format) cricket, he has recently impressed in limited-overs matches. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, he scored 266 runs in seven innings, averaging 44.33 with a strike rate of 152.

His standout performance was an unbeaten 130 off 66 balls against Punjab, followed by 58 runs against Services.

Overall, Easwaran has scored more than 1,200 T20 runs, including two centuries and six half-centuries. These consistent performances have caught the attention of IPL teams like Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals.

Easwaran has also been part of the India A team and toured England with the senior Test squad earlier this year. However, he is yet to make his international debut. With his recent T20 form, he could become a strong contender for IPL 2026.

IPL Auction Outlook

Abhimanyu Easwaran’s recent performances in T20 cricket and consistent domestic form make him an interesting option for IPL teams. His ability to score quickly and play big innings could help franchises strengthen their top-order batting.

Easwaran has been part of India A and toured with the senior Test squad, but he is yet to make his international debut.

The IPL 2026 mini-auction will take place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, where all ten franchises will look to fill remaining squad spots and finalize their teams ahead of the new season.
