Bangladesh Announces Squad for Pakistan ODIs

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has officially announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan, set to be played in Dhaka.

The three-match series will begin on March 11, followed by the second and third ODIs on March 13 and March 15, respectively. All matches will be held at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.

All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will lead the Bangladesh side for the series, as the team aims to regain momentum in the 50-over format.

Bangladesh has seen mixed results in recent ODI matches, and the upcoming home series offers an important opportunity for the squad to rebuild confidence ahead of future international assignments.

One of the major highlights of the squad announcement is the return of Afif Hossain, who last played an ODI for Bangladesh in December 2024. His recall adds valuable middle-order depth and experience to the lineup.

Meanwhile, Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan has retained his place in the squad after featuring in Bangladesh’s previous ODI series against the West Indies in October 2025.

The batting unit features several key names, including Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tanzid Hasan, and Tawhid Hridoy, offering a balanced mix of youth and experience.

Despite questions over his recent ODI form, Litton Das continues to enjoy the confidence of the selectors, who believe he can soon return to his best in the format.

However, the squad announcement also saw a few notable omissions. Experienced wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan, along with Jaker Ali Anik and Shamim Hossain, were left out of the team. Additionally, pacers Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan Sakib remain unavailable due to injuries.

Bangladesh’s bowling attack will rely on the pace trio of Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shoriful Islam, supported by spin options including Rishad Hossain and Tanvir Islam.

With home conditions expected to favor the hosts, Bangladesh will look to use the familiarity of Mirpur’s surface to their advantage and challenge a strong Pakistan side in what promises to be a competitive ODI series.

Pakistan players have been fined by the PCB after breaching team rules during the tournament. The board confirmed disciplinary action while stressing accountability and team standards.
