USA cricketer Aaron Jones has been provisionally suspended from all forms of cricket after being charged with five breaches of the anti-corruption codes of Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The charges were confirmed through an official media release on January 28, placing the 31-year-old batter under immediate scrutiny.
The allegations primarily relate to the Bim10 tournament held during the 2023–24 season in Barbados.
This competition falls under the jurisdiction of the CWI Anti-Corruption Code. In addition, two of the five charges are linked to international matches and therefore come under the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code, widening the scope of the investigation.
According to the governing bodies, Jones faces one serious charge related to attempting to fix or improperly influence aspects of matches during the Bim10 tournament.
Other charges include failing to report approaches or invitations that could amount to corrupt conduct, as well as not cooperating fully with anti-corruption investigations.
The ICC has also accused Jones of obstructing its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) investigation by allegedly concealing or tampering with information relevant to the inquiry.
In its statement, the ICC noted that the charges against Jones are part of a broader investigation and indicated that further charges against other individuals could follow in due course.
While no additional names have been revealed so far, the governing body emphasized the seriousness of the matter and confirmed that Jones has been provisionally suspended with immediate effect.
Jones has been given 14 days from January 28, 2026, to respond formally to the charges.
Until the disciplinary process is concluded, the ICC stated it will not be making further public comments on the case. USA Cricket has also yet to issue an official response.
The suspension marks a significant moment in Jones’ career. The right-handed batter has represented the United States in 100 international matches, including 52 One Day Internationals and 48 T20 Internationals.
He has been a key figure in the USA’s rise on the global stage and was one of the standout performers at the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he scored an unbeaten 94 against Canada and captained the side in multiple matches.
Beyond international cricket, Jones has been active on the franchise circuit, featuring for the Seattle Orcas in Major League Cricket and the St Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League. His most recent appearance came at the Abu Dhabi T10 league in November 2025.
As the investigation into the Bangladesh Cricketer Sexual Assault Case progresses, further clarity is expected in the coming days, with the cricketing community closely watching its possible impact on the player’s career.
