April’s ICC Player of the Month Nominees Officially Revealed

The International Cricket Council has officially announced the nominees for the ICC Player of the Month award for April 2026. Six cricketers from Bangladesh, Oman, UAE, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Brazil have earned nominations for their outstanding performances.

Men’s Nominees

Nahid Rana – Bangladesh

Nahid Rana was named Player of the Series in Bangladesh’s 2-1 ODI series win over New Zealand. The rising pace sensation claimed 8 wickets at an average of 16.75 throughout the series.

His standout moment came in Mirpur, where he recorded a career-best 5/32, dismantling the New Zealand batting lineup and cementing his place as one of cricket’s most exciting young fast bowlers.

Jatinder Singh – Oman

Oman captain Jatinder Singh dominated the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2, amassing 266 runs at an average of 53.20 across the tournament held in Nepal during April 2025.

His month peaked with a stunning 130 off 96 balls against Nepal, which is the highest individual ODI score ever recorded by an Oman batter. The remarkable knock underlined his class and consistency at the international level.

Ajay Kumar – UAE

Left-arm seamer Ajay Kumar made a dream entry into international cricket during the World Cup League 2, picking up 9 wickets across just his first two career ODIs at a miserly economy rate.

His performances included brilliant figures of 3/34 against Nepal and a stunning 6/35 against Oman, announcing himself as a genuine match-winner from the very beginning of his international journey.

Women’s Nominees

Laura Wolvaardt – South Africa

South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt continued her dominant run in women’s cricket, scoring 330 runs in five T20Is against India at a remarkable average of 82.50 during April 2025.

Her standout knock was a match-winning 115 off just 53 balls in the third T20I, boosting her credentials for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and confirming Wolvaardt as one of the most dangerous batters in women’s cricket today.

Imesha Dulani – Sri Lanka

Imesha Dulani played a pivotal role in Sri Lanka’s historic 2-1 series win over Bangladesh in the ICC Women’s Championship, finishing as the leading contributor across both formats for her side.

She accumulated 116 runs in the ODIs and followed up with 82 runs in the T20Is, delivering consistent performances that made her the heartbeat of Sri Lanka’s batting lineup throughout the month.

Laura Cardoso – Brazil

Brazil all-rounder Laura Cardoso made history in April by becoming the first player ever to claim nine wickets in a single T20I, recording the extraordinary figures of 9/4 against Lesotho.

She also contributed 203 runs at a strike rate of over 130 during the month, making her one of the most complete performers across all of women’s cricket in April 2025.
