The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed a record-breaking prize pool of USD 8.76 million (approx Rs 81 crore) for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, marking a major step forward in the growth of women’s cricket.
The prize fund represents a 10 percent increase over the 2024 edition, underscoring the rising global investment in the women’s game.
Prize Money Breakdown
- Winner: USD 2.34 million
- Runner-up: USD 1.17 million
- Semi-finalists: USD 675,000 each
- Per group-stage win: USD 31,154
- Minimum guaranteed (all teams): USD 247,500
This structured reward system ensures financial recognition at every stage, making the tournament more competitive and rewarding for all participating teams.
Expanded Format, Bigger Competition
For the first time, the tournament will feature 12 teams, expanding from the previous editions. Top cricketing nations, including Australia, India, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Pakistan, will compete alongside emerging teams, increasing the global reach and competitiveness of the event.
The tournament will begin on June 12, 2026, with England taking on Sri Lanka at Edgbaston, Birmingham, setting the stage for a high-intensity 33-match competition across multiple venues.

ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta highlighted that the rapid rise of women’s cricket continues to drive major investments. He noted that both the expanded format and record prize pool reflect ICC’s long-term vision to build a stronger, more inclusive global game.

To boost fan engagement, the ICC has launched the Trophy Tour in partnership with DP World. The tour began at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London and will travel across Europe and host cities in England, bringing the tournament closer to fans ahead of the opening match.
