The incident highlights a rising trend of cyber fraud targeting cricket fans amid high demand for match tickets.

The victim was on duty at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 28 when she approached a bouncer to inquire about ticket availability. The bouncer allegedly shared a mobile number, claiming it could help arrange tickets.

Trusting the reference, the woman contacted the number and initially transferred 3,000 online for two tickets. Soon after, she received QR codes with her name, which appeared authentic and convinced her that the deal was genuine.

Encouraged by this, she made multiple transactions between March 30 and April 4, including payments of 4,000, 3,000, 7,500, 25,500, and 12,500. In total, she transferred 52,500 to a bank account provided by the accused. However, the promised tickets were never delivered.

When the accused stopped responding to calls and messages, the victim realised she had been duped and filed a complaint with the cybercrime police. Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the suspects and track the financial trail.

Preliminary findings suggest that the fraud may be part of a larger organised network exploiting demand for IPL tickets. Officials are analysing bank accounts, phone records, and digital payment data linked to the case.

[1132,1133,1134
488
post-2064","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-bengaluru-ipl-ticket-scam","tag-fake-ipl-tickets","tag-security-guard-duped
["GET
